“It’s good news” Watch Dogs Legion is avoiding Cyberpunk 2077, says Ubisoft

Ubisoft has said that it’s “good news” that Cyberpunk 2077 does not launch in the same quarter as the studio’s big upcoming release, Watch Dogs Legion. If both games were to release in the same quarter then they would be in direct competition with each other.

During Ubisoft’s financial conference call (via Twinfinite) executives were asked if the company was confident regarding the release date reveal of CD Projekt Red’s blockbuster title. Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release April 16, 2020 which places it outside the Q4 window in which Ubisoft is due to release Watch Dogs Legion. Chief Financial Officer, Frédérik Duguet replied that it is “good news that Cyberpunk is not in the quarter.”

The Watch Dogs Legion release date is currently set for March 6, 2020, a little under a month before Cyberpunk 2077. Looking at Ubisoft’s other 2020 titles, if Cyberpunk 2077 were to release in Q4, it would not only be in competition with Watch Dogs Legion but also Ubisoft’s other title, Gods and Monsters, set to release February 25.
